“Sign me the f*ck up…”

Sam, Chiang Mai

“I learned about Moto Retreat through some mutual friends and was blown away that something so perfectly suited to what I love was out there. Riding motorcycles in a tropical foreign country, staying in a massive villa with a group of like-minded strangers, waking up each and every day with the goal to have as much fun as humanly possible on two wheels? Sign me the f*** up.

A few phone calls later and I was packing my camera gear alongside my helmet. The results of which are linked below. 'A dream come true' is an understatement.

Moto Retreat was everything I had hoped for and more. It blew my expectations out of the water ten-fold. This trip was SO much bigger than motorcycles. The video might be centered around the physical adventure, but the emotional and spiritual adventure was what really stuck with me. It's hard to convey in video form. Some things are difficult to capture on camera. Oh well. One day I'll learn how.

Motorcycles are different for everyone. For most people, they represent an escape. They're a place to engage your mind while simultaneously calming it. They're a place to be as vulnerable as possible, mentally and physically. It's a place to let thoughts it in and then let them go on their way. It's hard to describe, but it's brought more relief to my life than almost anything else.

Every morning in Chiang Mai began with a deep examination of what we all had below the surface. What brought you here? What has been your story up until now? What do you think your future holds? What do you WANT your future to hold? We would sit for what felt like hours and chip away at these thoughts until answers began to reveal themselves.

With that in mind, we would ride.
With that in mind, we would LIVE.”

“This trip was nuts…”

“…Easily 10x better than what I expected. From waking up to pool side massages in our backyard, to a late night skate sesh at a bar with a skate bowl. This trip hit every notch between peaceful/tranquil to controlled chaos. Big thanks to everyone who helped host this trip. I’m already planning to go another adventure with them next year.”

“Have fun, take chances, and celebrate the rewards that follow...”

“…Breakfast was accompanied by warm and insightful discussions where every participant shared their life stories. Following the morning group- thinking session, a quick brief about the day’s plan was shared, after which we would hit the road for the day. Every day we had a new location to ride to, each of which involved riding through some incredible mountain roads, followed by sumptuous lunch and then returning to our quaint homestay in Chiang Mai. Every day, we reached home by sunset well in time to finish an early dinner and then set out to experience the music-rich nightlife of Chiang Mai. All of us packed into big vans, we’d hit the party hub of Chiang Mai to let our hair down, complementing a full day and the rewards of making New Old Friends.

When on a motorcycle, you are inside the arena playing the game rather than being a distant observer worrying about the perils. You are the protagonist of your own story, so make it a story that you can cherish. Whatever it is, make it count.”
